Southern Hands Candied Sweet Potatoes by Grandma (Nelda) Hopkins

Ingredients

• 6 lbs. sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4" slices
• 3 cups sugar
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
• 3 Tbsp. Vanilla
• 2 Tbsp. Ground cinnamon
• 1 Tbsp. water

Yields

12 servings

Directions

• Place ingredients in 6 qt. Dutch oven (large pot)
• Bring to boil over high heat.
• Cover, reduce heat and simmer 25 minutes or until potatoes are tender and glazed.
• Stir occasionally.
