Festive Fruit Cake by Great Grandma (Marie) Oller

Ingredients

• 1/2 c. Evaporated milk
• 3 tbsp. Orange juice or flavoring
• 1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows (or 16 large)
• 4 dozen 2 1/2 inch graham crackers, rolled into fine crumbs
• 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
• 1/8 tsp. Cloves
• 1/2 c. Dates, cut fine
• 1 c. Raisins
• 3/4 c. Walnuts or Nut meats
• 3/4 c. Mixed candied fruit
• OR
• 1/3 c. Candied pineapple
• 1/3 c. Candied cherries
• 2 tbsp. Candied orange peel, cut finely

Notes

I remember eating this fruitcake at my Grandma's house at Christmastime.

Directions

• Line a 5 cup loaf or tube pan with waxed paper or plastic wrap.
• Put milk, juice and marshmallows into a small bowl and let stand until needed.
• In a large bowl, add remaining ingredients.
• Add milk mixture.
• Stir with a spoon, and then hands, until crumbs are moistened.
• Press firmly into pan.
• Decorate with additional nuts and fruit.
• Cover tightly.
• Chill 2 days before slicing.
• Keep in cool place.
