A 2025 plea from your Community Treasurer,  Lay Director and our Board of Directors:

Please be advised that we find ourselves in need of support from our SEI Community members.  It is always our intention to provide the best walks that we possibly can for our community, ones that bring glory to God first and foremost. 

The cost analysis of the past few walks indicate a cost of $196 per person.  We find that we have more money going out than coming in.  We appreciate the donations at candlelight and our gatherings.  Also special thank you to the many food pantries that donate to the kitchen to keep our food costs within budget.  We had to raise the per person walk fee to $175 this year to cover inflation and increase in rental of the Southern Baptist Youth camp facility.

2024 Year End Financial Report: Beginning balance of $6,966.30;  Income (walk fees, donations and scholarships) $41,330.62;  Expenses (Communication and Internet, Equipment, General, Insurance, Walk expenses) totaled $44,328.21;  Ending Balance 12/31/24  $3,967.91

🕊️ Walk to Emmaus Location Change - Starting Spring 2026

Since Walk #103 in Spring 2017, the Southeastern Emmaus Community has hosted Walks at Westport Baptist Camp. 
While we are thankful for the past 8 years of partnership and the support of the camp staff, we have prayerfully discerned a change for the future.

Why the Change?

Costs have increased: The pilgrim fee is currently $175, but actual per-person costs are now higher.
Facility access has decreased:
Summer kitchen downsized
Prayer Room and creek-side cabin no longer available
Agape Team space is difficult to organize
Additional charges: Camp now bills for set-up days and in-between Walk days.
Fee increases are expected in 2026
The Board is committed to being faithful stewards of our Community's resources.

gzuslivz (sound it out, it sounds like 'Jesus Lives', get it?) is a Christian band that used to lead music for children's worship most Sundays at Legacy Christian Church in Harrison Ohio. They lead children's worship on Sunday mornings from 2004 until crazy COVID-19 hit hard in March of 2020. They have 5 albums and are still working on their 6th album even though they don't lead music for children's worship any longer.

Why is this information on the Emmaus website? Because Kirk Hopkins, one of the Emmaus community members, lead the group.

gzuslivz is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a concert.

RESIDENTS ENCOUNTER CHRIST (REC) is a 3-day evangelistic outreach for inmates in local jails.  This weekend the men's REC will be in Jennings County Jail
in North Vernon.  Please pray as 42 residents participate in this amazing encounter with Jesus.  The women's REC will be next week.  If you would like to 
attend Candlelight, please meet at 6:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 240 West Poplar Street, North Vernon, Indiana.

Due to the weather forecast, we are moving to the Delaware Community Building. It sits on the same lot as the church. Looking forward to spending time with everyone. No need to bring a chair, just food to share.

Update:
A bridge is out on 350 between Delaware and Osgood. The detour is narrow, curvy and hilly and takes about 30 minutes to go 5 miles. A better alternative is to take 6550 through Versailles than north on 421 to Osgood. 

Or if you're coming from Batesville exit off I 74 south and go south on 229 then left which is east on 46 then south on 129 6.6 miles turn right which is west on Indiana 48 minus go 6.8 miles to Napoleon then left which is south on 421 into a Osgood.
